Wander with me a moment ...

So, what do people blog about, anyways? I don't think I have anything *that* interesting to say, prosaically at least. Poetically, well, there's a section for that, up above. See where it says "Poetry?" Yeah, that's where the interesting stuff really is. "Fiction" will have some stories and teasers soon too, if I can figure out where I've hidden the two short stories I've written.

I'm a writer, I guess you could say. Trying to make it in the writing world. I like to tell stories. I'm working on a story right now, actually. I'll post a teaser eventually, but for now, know that it includes wizards, and evil witch, and two gay idiots who are total idiots for each other. I want to publish it, but I'm not sure it will ever make it to an official publishing house. Not because I doubt my writing -- I actually love this story and I think it's pretty good (it's also ... massive ...) But it's just a fun story. There's no meaning behind it, no special symbolism, no interesting plot twists -- it's just a fun story for someone who wants to escape from the world a bit. And for a while, I've felt kinda bad about that. Don't people want something pithy, something that makes them think, that makes them really get into what the world is: good and evil and messed up? And then I thought, nah. Sometimes, people just want to read for fun. They don't want to get enmeshed in some commentary on how bad the world is and what we can do to save it. Sometimes, they just want a fun story to read, to take them away from whatever problems life has thrown at them.

So maybe there's hope for my not-so-little story. Maybe somebody out there is willing to pay for an ebook that helps them forget life for a while. Maybe. We'll see.
