About Me.

Hi! My name is Annie Laurie Holfelder. (Yep, Annie Laurie is my first name!) I've been writing fiction stories since before I could actually "write". My mom helped me draft those first few stuffed animal adventure stories. I started with poetry and expanded my fiction around the age of 11 or 12 to include fictional ninja chipmunks. Over the years, I perfected my poetry while abandoning fiction stories -- assuming that I couldn't write fiction (silly me!). A smattering of poetry is included under the poetry tab. ​

Around 2018 I discovered the character-driven world of fanfiction. Don't cringe! Fanfic is actually a really neat genre all to itself. I spent the majority of the next four years dabbling in fanfiction, until I decided that I wanted to try my hand at original fiction again. Thus, the Unbreakable series was born (originally titled Rusty Cage -- but I was afraid of getting sued by the estate of Johnny Cash...). From there, I got hooked on writing new worlds and characters. I'm up to five self-published novels, one completed novel in beta stages, and a magical realism project in progress (Plus a good half-dozen ideas!) The first five books of the Unbreakable series are available on Amazon (links under the Fiction tab up above). ​

When I'm not writing, I'm 100% thinking about writing. Writing is my hobby and my main coping mechanism and my life. (Ask my wife, our three cats, or our dogg.) I do like to dabble in photograph and hiking, and I love spending time with my family. I have a MS in Clinical Mental Health and work as a part-time therapist. I struggle with both chronic physical and mental illness (#potsie), which filters into my writing. I'm queer, and this also is incorporated into my writing -- all of my main characters are queer!​
