Speechless
Dedicated to the Boston Marathon Attack (4/15/13) and Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting
I don’t know what to say
When the world stops and stares
And starts to cry.
I don’t know what to say
That hasn’t been said before
To stop the pain.
I don’t know what to say
Sincerely, loving, honest or kind
To help the hurt.
I don’t know what to say
As I collect my thoughts
Sort out the feelings from the shock.
A heart like mine bears these scenes
And buries them deep inside,
It hides the tears from the world
And tries to help by a smile.
It tries to be strong and give its strength away
But it doesn’t know what to say.
I don’t know what to say
So instead I pick up my tools
And try to help.
I don’t know what to say
So instead I love a little stronger
And let it show.
I don’t know what to say
But in my silence I fear
No one will see that I care.
I’m speechless with each passing moment
Let silence by my memorial
Respecting the pain, reverence the dead
Prayers come in silence, tears behind closed doors
Outloud, I just can’t find the right words to say,
So I cry out in song.
